Contrary to what you may have heard, the name opossum is actually pronounced with the "o" in the beginning here in America. They are interesting little creatures, but can cause quite a bit of damage and destruction to your home. While they cannot contract rabies due to low blood temperature, they have a mouth filled with 50 teeth and can pack a punch if they bite. They are marsupials, so they carry their young in a pouch on their belly, making it hard to tell if a female has babies. Females can be extremely aggressive when it comes to protecting their young. Their feces and urine are also host to a number of bacteria and be host to many diseases as well.
It is not recommended to trap opossums on your own, unless you are prepared to deal with them the right way. Washington State laws forbid the transportation and relocation of opossums, and moving them out of their familiar territory and dropping them off somewhere completely new is doing nothing good for the animals. Wildlife Wizards offers multiple different solutions to any squirrel situation, from wrangling to trapping to one way doors. So don't get yourself hurt, or end up breaking the law.
